Breakfast at the hotel.
Early in the morning, you’ll board the bus that will take you to one of the most breathtaking archaeological sites in the world: Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas.”
Built in the 15th century at the height of the Inca Empire and perched high above the Urubamba River Valley, Machu Picchu is an architectural marvel. Although it was brought to international attention in 1911 by American historian Hiram Bingham, locals had known of its existence for centuries.
The site’s original purpose remains a mystery, as the Incas left no written records. Accompanied by an expert local guide, you will explore the stone temples, agricultural terraces, and sacred sites that make this citadel truly remarkable.
In the afternoon, you will take the train back to the city of Cusco. Upon arrival, you’ll be received and transferred to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel at around 6:30 a.m. and transferred to the bus station for your journey to Puno. This is a guided tourist bus tour with stops at four impressive historical and cultural sites along the way:
- Andahuaylillas: Known as the “Sistine Chapel of South America,” this beautiful colonial church is an outstanding example of Andean religious art.
- Raqchi (Temple of Wiracocha): A massive Inca structure measuring 100 meters long by 26 wide and 14 high. It is divided into two naves, each with 11 large columns.
- La Raya: The highest point of the trip at 4,300 meters above sea level. From here, you'll enjoy stunning views of the Andes and spot llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas. This is also the geographical border between the Quechua and Aymara cultures.
- Pukara: One of the oldest ceremonial centers of the Altiplano and an important archaeological site of the Pukara Civilization. The site features impressive stone architecture and historical significance.
You’ll arrive in Puno around 5:00 p.m., where our team will assist you with your transfer and hotel check-in.

Your first stop will be the famous floating islands of the Uros, located in the bay of Puno at 3,810 meters above sea level. These man-made islands are constructed from layers of totora reeds and have been inhabited since pre-Inca times.
After learning about the unique way of life of the Uros people, you’ll continue on to the picturesque island of Taquile. Known for its friendly locals and deep-rooted traditions, Taquile offers a glimpse into a society that has preserved its customs, language, and dress for centuries. The islanders are also famous for their intricate and symbolic handwoven textiles, which reflect the beliefs and values of Andean culture.
After exploring Taquile and enjoying lunch, you will return to Puno in the late afternoon.
